Fall

Fall

Poem by Julie Longhill
November 2022

We are blessed
We live in the woods
in Mountain Rest
It is that time of year-
the “in-between time”
Some call it Fall
Leaves quietly letting go
Each one has a rhythm
of it’s own;
swirling and dancing
with the wind
The deep greens of summer
now transformed
into patches of color;
fiery oranges, yellows,
and reds
The Spirit of Autumn
paints the landscape
anew
My body and soul
align with this
energy
Releasing the old,
dying fears,
crying tears,
welcoming a blanket
of calm
Like the Earth
welcomes
a blanket of leaves
in the Fall
